Description

The PM2.5 Air Quality Kit is an environmental temperature, humidity, and air quality detection product kit. This product is composed of the M5CORE host, SHT30 temperature and humidity sensor, and PMSA003 digital universal particulate matter concentration sensor. It can quickly detect the current environmental temperature and humidity data, and collect and calculate the number of suspended particles of different sizes in the air per unit volume. The simple and reliable design allows for quick deployment of nodes, and it can be used in various scenarios such as daily life or industrial environments for environmental data collection, or to provide real-time and accurate concentration data for instruments or environmental improvement equipment related to suspended particulate matter in the air.

A decent unit if you use custom code but is missing VOC and CO2

My experience with this model has been hit or miss. The unit seems well built but both of my units were unable to directly flash UIFlow2 over the stock code without first flashing the test firmware followed my multiple attempts (one unit required 5 flash attempts) to install UIFlow2. Beyond this, one of two units experienced microSD card slot failure. The units do not have VOC and CO2 installed which is unfortunate. M5Stack makes an external sensor which I have ordered but it's been at least two weeks and the sensors still haven't arrived for testing.

Lastly, Blockly in UIFlow2 programming software (which is only available online and with a login) is very limited and could not properly support logging functions. If you want to do anything significant with these units then you will need to use micro python.

Overall the experience wasn't amazing but I love the diversity of products and sensors that M5Stack sells, and these products are supposed to be more of a lab experience than a production experience anyway. I probably would have rated this 4 stars if one of the units hadn't experienced a hardware failure of the card reader. Also, they could get a better rating as a company if they had better stock levels and local distribution in the USA.
